通常は、牛や水牛のミルクを飲みますが、山岳に住む人々はヤギや羊のミルクも飲みます。ヤギのミルクは牛のミルクより栄養価に富んでいると信じられています。また、水牛の雄は、ネパール語で’Raango’と言い、ネパール南部の地域で畑を耕すのに使われるのに対し、山岳の広い地域では雄牛が活躍しているようです。
