Harvesting Ginger and Turmeric in Hananoie and Around Here

Ginger

This is Suresh gurung Hananoie Astam.

Almost weather is clear and nice Himalayan view. But temperature is still cold (minimum temperature was around 10 degrees list night). There was snowing on the mountain, therefore we can see very good sunrise view with white Himalaya from Hananoie. Guest are enjoying with lovely sunrise and beautiful villages and Lahachok and Ghahachok valley downside. Mustard are blooming, potato and wheat has been already grow up around here. We can see yellow and green field around here. There are left some field ( space) for making temporary shade for domestic animal. People are shift their domestic animal from different places such as Buffalos and other animal in the field in this season. Because of compost and fertilizer for the next seasonable planting such as rice, corn etc. People are making Basket from small bamboo and other needed things.and other many more activities around here. basket is very necessary things in countryside of Nepal.

Well, this January it was the harvesting season as Garlic,Turmeric in hananoie and around here

Ginger is a very useful spice in Nepal since we always use it in Nepali curry(Tarkari). We can use it as snacks at bar And for Ginger tea also in a cold season. The ginger is planted in April to May every year. People also sell in the market to earn some incomes.

Turmeric is also a very important spice in Nepal. We use it in many kinds of Nepali food. It colors food yellow. The villagers also use it as a traditional medicine. It is also planted in April to May but we harvest after two years. The turmeric can be preserved for longtime after harvesting.

After harvesting this type of spicy we plant other seasonal vegetable.
