Honey Harvesting
CATEGORY: Farm
In May, the weather is not good. It is cloudy and rainy. However, the mountain becomes green. We feel fresh every time we see the green mountain. The villagers start planting and seem busy.
In Hananoie, we have harvested our own honey. We have our own bee keeping boxes to produce honey for our guests. This times we can harvest one kilogram, approximately. It is not much but enough to serve to our guests.
Honey harvesting is very interesting and exciting. It is a little bit dangerous so we put on the protector. First, we took bee hives out from the keeping box. Of course some bees came to attack us but finally they gave up and let us take the hives. Then, we peeled beewax at the surfaces of the hive to let the honey flow out. However, because of its viscosity, we needed to use a machine to bring the honey out from the hives. The machine was a manual centrifugal machine. We put the hive inside the machine and rotated the handle. By centrifugal force, the honey came out and was collected into a pot. The empty hive would be put inside the keeping box and used again.
