Feeding Buffaloes and Goats in Traditional Nepali Way
CATEGORY: Farm
Good morning. Now it is the middle of March. The weather is getting warm. The sky is clear and we can see good Himalaya view.
This time, Hananoie has new-born baby goats so let me tell you about traditional-Nepali-style of feeding goats and buffaloes.
People in Astam normally feed goats and buffaloes. Buffaloes are very important in daily life of the people in Astam. They are tough workers in the field, give milk and fertilizer. On the other hand, people feed goats and sell to the market as another source of incomes.
Hananoie has 2 buffaloes and 5 goats and 4 baby goats. We feed them with grass and corn flour soup (Kudo in Nepali). It is a traditional style to feed them by the corn flour soup which is good for milking. We put the corn flour in boiled water with some salt. After cool down by mixing some cold water, we let them drink. After that we give them the grass, their main dish.
We take the milk from the buffaloes in the morning. We make butter and yogurt from buffaloes milk. Buffalo milk is oilier than cow milk so it is creamy and tasty.
See you next time.
