Monsoon

CATEGORY: Daily life

Whenever the summer strikes the home of Lord Buddha, NEPAL, the gloomy days begin which brings, a lot of rain to the mountainous country. The rain is carried by the clouds from the Bay of Bengal (the nearest sea to the country) until it hits the high mountains. The mountains are washed with the rain. The monsoon in Nepal usually starts from the end of May and last up to the end of Aug. So, during most of the summer it is hot and humid.

Since, Hanano-ie is situated near the place where it rains the most in Nepal (Lumle, kaski) we won’t be able to stay away from the beautyness created by the mother nature. During Monsoon everything turns green and water. The hills, valleys and the Himalayas are cherished by white clouds .It looks like the clouds are playing hide and seek with us. The cover the mountains and the valleys as if the mountains and the valleys are going to sleep. The Himalayas are most of the time covered by the thick blanket of clouds during this season. But, the breath taking view of the green watery hills and the valley will make you forget about the Himalayas. Sometimes the Himalayas just come out of the thick blanket of clouds and gives extra beauty to the monsoon.

monsoon

Nepal being a agricultural country, this is the busiest time of the year. Around Hananoie you can see farmers planting paddy and working in their farm. This is the best season for planting rice. Since, the monsoon brings rain the fields will get enough water to plant rice. You can see farmers with their syakhu (traditional umbrella) and traditional farming tools working in the field. They will be ploughing the field with the help of oxen and prepare the field for rice planting. You can join in with the farmers to plant rice in the muddy fields and learn to use the traditional Nepalese farming tools. The farmers will always be happy to teach you their way of farming. If you are to visit Nepal during monsoon don’t forget to bring umbrella and rain covers.
