Astam is a village where Hananoie is located in. It is in the western part of Nepal near to the city of Pokhara. Its altitude is approximately 1500 meter above sea level. It is a beautiful village where you can enjoy not only Himalayan views, but also nature around and seeing the traditional lifestyle of people who live in the mountain.

Most of the people in Astam are Bhahun, an Braman community and belong to Adhikari Family. Some people may call Astam as “Adhikari Village”. They speak Nepali and believe in Hindu religion. Agriculture are main job of them. Some of them work in tourism industry or become migrant workers in other countries.

While hiking around Astam, we can see seasonal farming and cattle such as buffaloes, goats. Sometime we can see they milking. The villagers love milk tea and dairy products so we always see they being busy in making cheese, yogurt, etc.

We always see the villager dressing in red, especially the women. They likes red color. You can see traditional dresses.

In each season, you could see different activities. They prefer to use their own products. In this season you can see yellow paddy field around here. They are going to harvest rice, the main food of Nepal.
