Well, It is now April or Nepali month of “Baishak” It is also Spring in Nepal. This season is harvesting time for mustard. So if we walk around here, we can see people harvesting the mustard. We use mustard oil for cooking Nepali cuisine. It is an healthy oil. Besides the oil, we consume green mustard also. It is a tasty and popular vegetable here. It is used to make Nepali Achar. It is an alternative income of the villager also.
The mustard was planted in November or December or Nepali month of Mansir. We could see people planting the mustard in wheat fields together. After harvesting mustard, people plant corn. The mustard first looks green then becomes yellow in flowering season. After that people harvest and keep in their house around two weeks. The seed is separted by stepping. This work is done by women. This is tradition of Nepal. It is quite interesting.
